Meet Our #swimsuitmodel- Leticia Mukendi

Meet Leticia (@beautytalksbeauty). This vibrant beauty from Regina is a fashion blogger, student, and #swimsuitmodel.

Why did you choose this career path?

I really enjoy being challenged, and blogging consistently gives me the opportunity to explore new ideas, learn, listen and understand other people.

What are your hobbies?

I love blogging, photography, and running.

What are three personality traits you identify with?

Compassionate, courageous, motivated.

What are three words your best friend would use to describe you?

Intelligent, ambitious, entrepreneurial.

What do you want people to know about you?

When I tell people I’m shy they never believe me! I’m really more of an ambivert- it’s all about balance.

What are you hoping to achieve with your social media following and your relationship with your followers?

The biggest thing about my blog is the message of empowerment. I always want to bring a positive perspective on things and I want my blog to be a place my followers go to find some encouragement and inspiration in their lives.

How do you hope to connect with the people who follow you?

I want to build a community, and I do that by interacting with my followers. At the end of the day it is a relationship and they are a big part of my blog. I want them to know I’m trying my best to produce content that inspires and empowers them to chase after their dreams and celebrates who they are as individuals.

Swimco has selected you for this campaign because they believe your life is aspirational. What do you feel makes your life aspirational? Why did you decide to participate in this campaign?

Reality needs to be represented and the reality is that we all have different body types. I know this is what I want as a consumer and what I see my followers craving, so this was a big influence on my decision to be part of this campaign. My hope is that anyone who sees these images will see themselves in any one of us.

I think what makes my life aspirational is that I work towards my goals. I’m proud to have created a space that allows me to speak on the things I’m passionate about and connect with others who share my interests.

What did you enjoy about working with Swimco on this campaign?

Swimco is the real deal. My favourite thing about working on this campaign was meeting the team and seeing how they stuck to their message the entire time. It brought a sense of comfort and everyone was allowed to be themselves and bring that type of authenticity that these projects need. This is where you get to see people’s personality shine.

Did you discover anything about yourself?

I discovered how important it is to feel good half naked. After being in swimwear all day on the shoot, I forgot about the small flaws that I magnify in my head, and instead I just ran around the beach having fun.

If you could say one thing to someone who may not be confident with their body, what would it be?

Don’t turn your insecurities into envy. Self-confidence is a work in progress, and it’s okay to take your time. Taking time for yourself, whether it’s being active or eating well, is self-care and self-care is a form of self-respect. Feeling good on the inside will help you feel more confident about who you are- you’re building a strong foundation. When you look at photos of yourself be proud of who you see, because that person is working to love and take care of themselves the best way they know how. Be kind to yourself!
