Meet Jade Alexandra (@jadeyalexandra). Adventurer, creator, and #swimsuitmodel.
What are your hobbies, interests?
I love to create – whether it be painting, carving, or photographing my adventures.
How would you describe yourself?
I’m just a happy little monkey exploring the world.
What are three personality traits you identify with?
Optimistic, Creative, Grateful.
What are three words your best friend or partner would use to describe you?
Generous, Understanding, SuperDuperRuthlesslyHonest (that’s one word, right?).
What do you want people to know about you?
I love to travel and explore. The more I travel the world I learn how much diversity there is among people and places, and yet they are so similar and beautiful in their own way. I also learn to appreciate home and how much Canada has to offer.
What are you hoping to achieve with your social media following and with your relationships to your followers?
I want to add my own art, photography, and stories to the greater community of adventurers. There have been so many people, photos, and places that have given me ideas and inspiration over the years through social media. Some of my best travel experiences have been found online. I hope that I can add my own spark into the fire and inspire others to make their own adventures.
How do you hope to connect with, touch or inspire the people that follow you?
I hope that people are inspired to explore and live their best lives. I hope they get out there and appreciate the little things, the beautiful things, and find what drives them.
We selected you for this campaign because we believe your life is aspirational. What do you feel makes your life aspirational? Why did you decide to participate in this campaign?
I feel like I live a pretty typical life – I work a corporate job Monday through Friday. But outside of that, I’ve found what truly grounds my heart – my art, the outdoors, exploring new places, and doing it with good people. I think it’s important to take time for yourself, find what grounds you so you can have a healthy balance in your life. Not everyone likes to hike, not everyone likes to take pictures, not everyone likes to be IN pictures, but that’s not the point. The point is that when you find what drives you, what grounds you, what recharges your batteries after a long week – you embrace it and you make time for it.
What did you enjoy most about working with us on this campaign?
I love the message behind this campaign. Everyone should learn to love themselves and feel comfortable in their own skin. You can spend so much time looking in that you forget to look out and see what’s really important in life. I love that Swimco’s message is to feel comfortable enough that you can look up and live your best life.
Did you discover anything about yourself?
I learned that I have NO IDEA what looks best on my own body. The suits I wore for the shoot were so different from what I would normally choose for myself- the colours, the cuts, and the styles. I typically stick to basics, so it was important to get out of my comfort zone and try new things, because I ended up loving them. There is so much out there that I stop myself from even giving it a chance!
If you could say one thing to someone who may not be confident with their body, what would it be?
There is nothing more beautiful than being confident in your own skin. When you focus on your flaws you forget to be your own beautiful self, and that’s not fair to the rest of the world.
Anything else?
I loved this experience. And I love that Brennan (@BrenBadgley) and I got to do it together. We’re both far from models. We would rather be behind the camera than in front of it, or we like to stand so far away that we’re unrecognisable. This was a very big change of pace for us, and the Swimco team was amazing at making it fun and helping us both feel comfortable.
