Meet Blair (@blairjunior). This talented DJ from Edmonton is an entrepreneur and #swimsuitmodel.
Why did you choose this career path?
It happened naturally! It all started from the upbringing of my parents. Growing up, my parents were heavily involved with the Jamaican community in Edmonton – from hosting many hall parties and house parties, with DJs spinning Reggae, Calypso, Funk, Soul, and Disco. My childhood was an inspirational sponge of music and culture. We always had a DJ booth in our basement with hundreds of records to play and practice with. From all this inspiration I decided to host my own events at the tender age of 17 years old. For the next four years while I studied Marketing at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, I hosted many events around Edmonton. I started spinning records at 18 and in 1999 I moved to Vancouver and landed a weekly residency at a small lounge called 604. After six short months living and DJing in Vancouver, my roommate and I moved back to Edmonton to open up Halo. Three years later we opened Red Star (next door to Halo). After eleven years of Halo we decided to reconfigure the space and reopen it as The Bower (current).
